What type of finish / method

Afternoon, I'm just curious what type of finish would be best for the plastering of the ceiling where it runs into the wood from the staircase landing section in the picture?
Plan was to have that skimmed but I'm not sure how it's gonna look and how it ties into the wood.

Great, the other option I guess would be remove the old lath and plaster off and then reboard so it runs into the wood but I think youre saying that the stop bead would do the same thing?
 
Pull down and board. What a mess though but best job.

Other option is put a wooden edge around. Many are finished like that.

I'll pull it down mate I don't mind a bit of mess thanks for the help
