I've just grouted out the back of my house and all ready to point it with new mortar.

Can anyone advise me on the best mix I should use to ensure a good job is done?

Should I also be looking to get a good brand cement?

use the mix as above only I add two caps of FEB-MIX and one cap of FEB-WATERPROOFER. not to much water because the lime and additives are a plastersizer. I use masonry cement /rather than 0.P.C Ordinary Portland Cement

First thing is, what is the exsisting mortar made of? and how old is your house? Using any amount of cement with lime mortar is a bad idea. . The repointing may not last as long without it, but it is always easier to repoint than to replace damaged bricks.
