Thanks to my teenage son, I know need to replace the toilet seat. Problem is I have no idea what type it is. The base bracket fittings are hidden inside the cistern and can’t be accessed unless I remove the whole toilet from the wall. The seat is fixed to the base by two small screws, one each side, and once removed, the whole seat lifts clear. I have looked online and can’t see anything that looks like this. Any clues ??

Unscrew the two screws whilst pulling upward the seats plastic baseplate. The retaining nuts will be concealed below. There are several different variants ,and once the seat is removed you can take further pics to show how yours is. The nuts can either be withdrawn from above , or on some ,pushed down ward and sacrificed( they just fall down into the void behind the pan ). A new seat can be installed without removal of the WC.

And try cleaning the pan, that is filthy, I would charge you double if you expected me to swap that
