Having read all the helpful answers that came forth in response to the thread of a similar name to this, I'm starting this in the hope that someone might help me too.

I have been puzzling for years over a TV series I remember watching when I was young - probably in the 1960s or 1970s. All I can remember about it is that it was a drama set in a (? northern) mill town and was about how the town developed over the years from a small settlement to a large industrial town. The introductory images, when each programme started, was the scene of the area concerned with more and more buildings fading into the picture as time went by. It may have been in black and white.

I really would be interested to learn any more about it, if anyone should remember. I have asked on other forums in the past, but without success.

Gotta be one of these or these in case it jogs a memory

Thanks Dex. I have a feeling that I was presented with this site some years ago when I asked on some other forum. I have ploughed through both of these and the 1950s, and have consequently recalled some happy memories. Unfortunately, none fit the bill.

I can even remember the signature tune. I'll hum it for you.

hmm, was it in the 60's and 70's?

"All our Yesterdays" was. Brian Inglis was the presenter - very dead-pan.
The series looked back 25 years to the week and in the '60s it was then up to the War-time period.

"World at War" was first aired in the '70s. Lawrence Olivier narrated it. Excellent history of various aspects of the War.

Looks like, they rely on us to put the details in, not sure though?
