Hello

Just nearly finishing fitting my new kitchen

But ..........how can i cut accurately cut mitres????

(tried using a mitre saw - it was very inacurate and then broke
tried to find a mitre block big enough to fit items but couldn't)

Nees to cut:

the pelmets

the kick boards

skirting board

Would an electric compound mitre saw - like they have in b& q do the job?
even the cheap £40 ish ones??

or how should i do it????

Many thanks

:D :D Cheers

Any power Mitre saw will cut you an accurate mitre joint but if you have any doubts about using machines like these then it may be best to pay a Joiner for the job . Seeing as you have enough know-how to fit your own kitchen though it looks like you must be familiar with power tools so it is well within your capabilities I would say.

heeelllooo m8

when you say saw do you mean hand mitre saw it could be
because the frame was out of square allways worth
checking the frame and blade are parrallel

also what ever saw you use should be checked for accuracy
most cheeper ones are inacurate and need tinkering to get right
it may say 45% but only be 44% dosent sound a lot but will
look poo unless fixed

also it is worth getting a bit of wood to fit in the back of
the pelmit[ if its hollow] to hold it firmly in place

big all

Thanks fo the replies Excellent!

DazB - Yep no problem with powertools - as long as it will give an acurate cut! I will be happy! Great advice - (safety first)!

big-all - Yep a hand mitre saw with a frame! (think it was a bit too cheap a version) the frame was just not substantial and as you say 44% was no where near the accuracy it would give - it was miles out even after loads of adjusting! - untill it broke ! Doh!

I am a bit of a perfectionist and want to get a really good finish!

So think i will go and get a electric mitre saw!

Am I am right in thinking ones I have seen usually come with a blade with massive 'ripping' looking teeth!!!!!
............ and so I would be best to get a blade with lots of small teeth? to give the best accurate cut?

Again many thanks for your help!!

If you only want this saw for the one job, why not hire one, you can then get a fine blade fitted & it should also be a good quality saw.

Just in the throws of doing mine now, using hired saw. Its brilliant.

BYTW I work for a plant hire company so dont ask me how much it costs to hire. ;)

if your a perfectionist

the first thing youll want to do if you buy a saw from the diy end
of the market is buy a new blade with more teeth for smoother
quieter if not slightly slower cutting
well worth the extra cost

Again thanks for the replies!!

I would rather spend a bit to ensure these last bits are done properly and so achieve a great finish.......... so............

Going to look into both options!

Cheers!!!
