its got a metal strengthening bar , Im thinking I can remove that and put a narrow piece of white melamine instead ?
alternatively maybe a bit of flat aluminium trim to block the front of it ?

Looks like there is no protection on the underside of the worktop as it seems to be expanding above the oven.
