What's it called?....

On your average tree you get a trunk, and a crown i believe. But on a single willow, you can get lots of trunks all sprouting out of the ground together..... what are these called? are they boughs? or trunks?
 
I think you mean a willow that's been coppiced (cut down to near ground level to encourage multiple shoots to grow). I'm not sure if it's the normal term, but you could call them 'stems'.

Thanks Xerxes... although it seems a bit too large to be calling it a stem lol

The reason i'm asking is because i'm applying for permission to do tree works and they have a TPO on them. The form needs me to describe the work i want to do..
