What's this bit on window??

Got uPVC sash windows, they all have this on both sides but I've no idea what it is?

It's what I call a sharks shark's fin. (Cannot remember real name).
It deploys a triangular bit of metal that stops window being opened more than about 10cm for ventilation.

From memory press it at bottom and it pops out 2cm or so.

Just remembered that you might need a key (small flat pronge???) to deploy it.

Thanks, yes got it figured now. There's a plastic flat head key, slots in at bottom and pulls down, a latch flips out. Cheers!

Yep, figured that out thanks. Knobs push to the side.
