What's this sound from my Tumble dryer?

I've not used the tumble dryer on our combi before (we only moved here a year ago)
Finally needed it tonight and there's an occasional sound (every 15 seconds or so). Sounds like some kind of pump/suction sound that lasts for 1/2 a second
is this normal? Should I be worried?

Yes, that's normal for an unvented washer/dryer. The machine draws in cold water at regular intervals to keep the condensing plates cool.
The solenoid water valve can open and close very quickly. This is designed so that the machines can be water efficient, but it is noisy and can lead to water hammer in your pipe work.
