Where to find someone to dig foundations

W

Hello,
I need my foundations dug (there's about 15m3) and I don't want to do it myself as it goes down quite far (2m) and it'd take me weeks with doing it myself and getting skips, etc.

I've tried ringing a few builders, tried a few of the 'find a builder' websites but I'm not getting anything.

Anyone got any clues as to the best place to look or what to actually search for as clearly 'builders' don't want to just dig a hole. All I need really is a man with a digger who will have contacts to get rid of the soil with a big grabber, but none seem to want to advertise or I'm looking in the wrong place.

Thanks.

Local digger hire companies and ask for a digger and driver. That's where I started and use the guy all the time now for anything groundwork related, what you will learn off him will be invaluable

2m would be specialist/very experienced, not just someone with a shovel or digger. Don't take it lightly.

I'd be looking for shoring and a method statement. So would CDM and the HSE.

It's actually 1.9m, into clay, that's the maximum though and it goes down to 900mm at the other end. Basically i have some trees 5m away from the corner, so it's 1.9m at the closest then reducing by 20cm every metre from this point.

btw, when I do eventually manage to find someone, can somebody give me a clue as to what I should be paying?

If I find a separate digger man I'm figuring it's a one or two day job and 15m3 would take two grab lorries and I've guessing £600 for the grab and £600 for the men (no idea really). So £1200. If it's an all in one builder I figure to add that again so £1800.

This is the north-east so no London weighting ;)

As long as no one is in the trenches then you might get away with no supports.
~£150 a day for digger
If you can do the dumper ~£30 a day
If not then the digger guy might have a mate to do it also say £100 a day.
Grab lorry for soil is about £150 a load
