Where to run extraction duct to?

Hi I have an issue with where steam from my bathroom is going up into my loft and causing issues. I want to install some extraction for the bathroom. I was thinking about an inline extraction pump in the loft (to save having to drill through external wall at high level). I assume I would drill through the bathroom ceiling, run a duct to the pump and then from the pump to a point to discharge the extracted air but I'm not sure where this point should be? To the eaves (old house, I have concerns about this), to the area of the roof vents?

Apologies if this is a daft question

eaves are often convenient, but you need to place it so that steam will not blow back inside the loft.
