Where would you advertise to hire or look for employment...

Just as the topic suggests really - specifically carpenters or joiners in the London area please.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Don't take me wrong, but are you looking for two separate things?
1: hire a carpenter/joiner
2: carpenter/joiner looking for employment

If so, then you are also looking for two different targets ('clients' so to say)

Sorry, I obviously didn't make myself clear.
I am interested to know where:

1) Carpenters or Joiners might look for work if looking to join a firm and also

2) Where Carpentry and Joinery Companies might advertise if they needed to hire?

I am looking for work basically and am interested to know what others do that's all.

When I was looking for work as a heating engineer I signed up to some online recruitment agencies. I assume there are similar for other trades.

gumtree.com is quite good if you go to the london page and search for joiner in the jobs section there is normally a good few listings for work and people looking for work

Join an agency and if you are good I guarantee you the hirer will use you outside the agency on a self employed basis.
That is where my mate gets all his trades bar the word of mouth ones.

thanks guys, i'm keeping an eye on gumtree - already applied for one job on there!
