Hey all,

As the title says, I'm wondering which adhesive is the best (but reasonably priced) adhesive to use for fixing 300x600mm ceramic tiles to a plasterboard (painted wall)? It will be in a bathroom so must be water/moisture proof.

Thanks!

Paint's a problem. that needs to be scraped off (no adhesive manufactures will guarantee their products on painted surfaces). with the paint off, if it's skimmed, prime it with a diluted SBR primer (not PVA) and fix tiles with a powdered cement based adhesive. If you are tiling a shower, the immediate wet areas will also need tanking as no adhesive or grout is truely 100% waterproof....... apart from epoxy and that is bloody expensive.

As for which adhesive, depends what tile shops you have in your area and who's brands they supply. Tilemaster Setaflex is one of the best and reasonably priced. Or Weber SPF, Mapei Adesilex P9, P10 or Mapei Keraflex, Ultra ProFlex S1, Isomat AK22...... these are all slow setting but there are loads of choices.
