Standard Adhesive/Grout for Ceramic Wall Tiles?

Hi, we have some ceramic wall tiles (planning a single row of tiles above a worktop) but I've just realised we have not purchased ceramic adhesive/grout but standard tile adhesive/grout. Is it 100% a no to use this or would it be ok?

Grout is one product.
Adhesive is another.
Things which claim to be both are generally useless for either, although for just one row of tiles it probably won't make any difference.
