Which door sensor and PIR do I need for Pyronix Enforcer?

Hi

My wireless Enforcer is 2 years old (sorry I don't know the exact model) and I want to add another 3 door sensors and another 2 PIR's. The Pyronix website offers three options for the door sensor and even more for the PIR.

The new PIR will be used in a bedrooms that are approx 4m x 3m. The door sensors are for new external doors.

We don't need pet friendly sensors as our dog is too big so would set them off anyway.

Does anyone know which sensors I should go for or are they all compatible?

If I buy them through the installer they will charge me £120+vat per item including fitting. I think this is a bit steep when buying 5 items so I am hoping they will either give me the engineers code or I will fit them and then call them out to learn the new items to the control panel.

Thanks.

firstly they don't have to give the engineers code, however the codes can be defaulted if not locked, the engineer should come out for there normal callout fee and put the engineers code to the default 9you can then change that to one you want. Most engineers do not have specific engineer codes for each client, whilst it is possible on many systems to have millions of codes its about managing them.

If the engineer is being awkward over this contact CAB for advice as they will tell you exactly how to approach the situation and have templates available.

You may find that they are not willing to accept your devices (self prurchased) as they have no control over faulty items if you purchase them and rightly so, or advise you they wont put them under guarantee .

did the installation company not specify each device?

As far as I am aware there are no restrictions on the door contacts and pirs across the systems based on your systems age only. Howver you may want someone to comment who regularly install these systems.

Use the standard MC2-WE door contact & KX12DQ-WE PIRs.

The MC2 has a separate magnet that has to be fitted to the door and be within 2cm of the triangular marking on the sensor. Or you can wire a more discreet hardwired contact into the MC2 so that the bulky part is hidden, which looks far better.

As for learning onto system you need enginner code & would advise that you get your installer to do this & correctly programe the relevant attributes for each device.

Stay clear of the MC1-WE which is a door contact & shock sensor in one, these are nothing but trouble & false alarm endlessly.

Thanks both for your advice and info on the sensors.

The installer does not guarantee the system or get paid an annual fee to maintain it. I simply paid them to spec and install it and then about a year ago I asked them to add two more sensors to outbuildings after they got broken into. As we have just had an extension I need to expand the system a little more.

I will arrange for an engineer to visit and if he refuses to add the sensors I'll ask him to reset the engineer code for me. If that fails I'll go down the CAB route but hopefully that won't be necessary.

Thanks again.

Just to clarify std pir's are kx10dp and contacts are the mc1 mini.....

I've installed a few of the shock sensors and not had any issues with them ! Or at least no one has phoned to say they have had issues !

Me too...mc shock is trouble free and they have just revised so its the same physical size an mc1 mini now instead of the "house rick"

Was just about to purchase three MC1/SHOCK-WE to use as door contacts when I read this:

'Please note that the dual functionality (magnetic contact AND shock sensor) is only compatible with Enforcer V9.13 (Week code 1914) and the EURO-ZEM32-WE V2.36 (Week Code 2414). Should you wish to install this device on systems that do not meet this version requirement, then only the shock sensor aspect of the device can be used.'

Anyone know how I find out which version of the enforcer I have, keeping in mind I don't have the engineers code yet? My system was installed in December 2015.

Thanks.

You need the enginner code then the software is displayed within the ‘Software Revision’ menu.

V9 is fairly recent, so its likely that yours is pre V9. So your need seperate door contacts and shock sensors i think.
