Hi Everyone

We have taken wall paper off and have two different situations. One is hairline cracking and sone holes from roll plugs, etc on most walls and blown finish plaster on 2 walls which we removed (base coat is strong so left it).

We can't afford a plasterer so want to have a go. Can you please recommend the best approach to both?

We thought to go over good walls with easy fill (without PVA).

Can easy fill also be skimmed over the old backing plaster? The house is from the 1950s.

Thanks for all your help!

You'd be ok filling holes from rawl plugs or improving the appearance over fine cracks.

Easy fill is exactly that - a filler. Do not recommend skimming easy fill over backing plaster!

If you've not skimmed before then you may be better saving up for a pro. Skimming alone is not as expensive.
If you start and it goes wrong, it will be a lot of work to put right.
