which white paint for going over varnish

im going to paint my skirting white. its currently mahognay. im going to lightly sand it first.
what i wanted to know which make paint should i user for undercoat and then a satindwood paint for final coat? i want to achieve the best possible results so the varnish doesnt show through

use zinnser cover stain as your primer (first coat). Then two coats of satinwood.
