My washing machine will not start as the door is not locking. The door locked light does not come on and hence the cycle will not start and the door is indeed able to be opened. I presume there is some kind solenoid that has failed? Any help appreciated.

Could be a faulty door interlock.
Close the door and give it a thump where the door latches. If it works then the door hinge needs adjusting.

Thanks Sleepyhead. Problem solved though; We couldn't remember when we bought it, from Costco, so called them up (they have a full list of everything you have ever bought) and they confirmed it was 18 months old so out of warranty. But, they said to just bring it back in for a full refund!! Big thumbs up for Costco customer service, we bought a new model with the refund and an extra tenner!
