whirlpool dishwasher - fills with water

after finished running water will slowly rise to 1-2 inches and smells. I have checked drains and they are clear. Would replacing the water inlet valve fix this??

No it won't solve your problem. If the machine fills with dirty water then you have some kind of plumbing issue. You would be better served posting this problem on a US forum.
