Anyway to celebrate the birth of my new daughter this morning my Whirlpool built-in under work top freezer has died

Basically it is tripping the RCD out in about 1/2 second. I turned it off and changed the plug (as I never trust factory sealed plugs) then it went in about 4 seconds. I notice that the temperature setting that need a 5p to change has become stuck fast.
My question is. Do you think it can be repaired. Is this usual for whirlpool.
