whirlpool tce 7276 condensor dryer not heating

Hi could someonehelp me please ,i have a zanusi condensor dryer and the wife just informed me its stoped drying clothes , ive stripped the back off and visually checked it whilst running and one part of the heater element lights few a couple of mins and turns off click from the stat but the top half wont heat up .I have checked continuaty from both stats on the element also the top half and bottom of the element and all reads positive ,is there anything else i can try before i have to take it to a shop .many thanks tim
 
I had a similar problem with my Miele tumble dryer. After banging the thermostat onto a hard surface, it worked fine. I have it 4 hard bangs onto a solid wooden surface. Works a treat now.
