I have a Zanussi Aquacycle and find that on delicate washes it leaves white marks on dark clothes and doesn't clean as well as it used to. I'm not sure if it's a scale problem or the machine isn't getting hot enough? Is there a way I can check?

Take the white flakes left on the clothes, drop 'em in vinegar, if they fizz, it's limescale. I which case, a couple of empty runs with calgon, may help alleviate the problem.
