i have been doing some work under the floor of my house. i have noticed on only about 6 bricks a covering of white powder. it brushes off very easily but there was quite a thick deposit. i cant say for sure but i dont think the deposits were there 18 months ago when i was last down there. the bricks in question are the foundation bricks about 18" below ground.

should i be concerned?

efluoresccence... ( i think that's how you spell it.. )
usually on newer walls..
it's the salts coming out of the bricks and mortar when they get damp.
