Who can I sue?

My deceased parents bought their house about 50 years ago. I recently noticed a few spalling bricks. So they must always have been slightly weaker than the other bricks, which I suspect the previous owner knew (he died in 1966, so I've been told).

Some compensation should be made payable to me - how can I trace who built the property in the areas since they have a case to answer, methinks, perchance.
