Whole house mains water filter, are they needed?

I fitted them for a pal in Bristol and they are a waste of time regarding Limescale.

Get the best filter for tap water and fit to tap next to kitchen tap if you drink it.

Thanks guys for confirming my thoughts that they are not needed give the UK's water standards.

I am going to fit a good quilaity in-line filter for just our fridge water unit, as that is where we basicaly drink our water from.

As I said in my first post "do I need filtered water in my toilet?"

Only if you use the pan to clean your teeth

if you assume you consume around 2 litres off water per person then in excess off 99% percent goes to everything else why would any one want filtered water for the whole house
a filter actually capable off stopping firing up off pipes for the whole house would have to be huge or block up every few weeks
