Why is spurred wall light blowing bulbs

Hi, I have a wall light that is fed from the ring main via a 3amp fused switch that is now blowing a bulb every time it is swapped and switched on. I havent come across these before so just wonder where to start looking for the fault. Light fitting or wall switch or elsewhere ?

Sounds to me like your lamps are the wrong voltage. There not 110v are they?

Nope - bog standard bayonet 240v 40W candle bulbs.

Could be a duff pack I guess - i'll get a new pack at the weekend and try one more time before dismantling the parts
