I'm having problems with my boiler. Heating works fine, but at the mo we have no hot water.

Problem started at the beginning of this winter.

The first question is would the water pressure make a difference to the boiler firing up - as in the local water authority turn down the water pressure in the winter months, so when we turn on the hot tap the water comes out slowly. Could this prevent the boiler firing up? The cold water comes out faster...

The problem is that the boiler never fires up when we turn on the hot water taps. The lights do not even come on.

Don't know where to start.

Im no expert but afaik the water companys dont turn down the pressure in winter. The reason your hot comes out slower in the winter is the boiler is having to raise the temperature from a colder starting temperature to reach the desired temperature

The Wickes Combi 80 is made by Halstead and does not automatically compensate for colder incoming water in the Winter.Water psessure does have an effect on combi operation.I would get the boiler serviced by a competent RGI and water supply should be checked together with the diverter valve and diaphragm and flow switch.
