Hello all - I've recently started a reno project and having gleaned as much info as possible from this excellent site, I thought I'd make my first post.
I have an 826mm door in an internal loadbearing wall (upstairs joist is being supported by wall). The position of the door and the small-ish hallway makes it a little tricky to get a push chair in/out - so I'd like to use a wider door to make it all a little easier. The ceiling is 2.6m.
I'm going to break away the plaster this afternoon and see what is there - but ideally I'd like to make the opening today as well. I'll post pics once done, but how much would opening the door way by an extra 10cm weaken the support for the joist upstairs?
