Will these decorative door nails split this door?

I have a new door. It currently has mass produced decorative door nails which I wish to replace with these hand forged nails.

They however have a wide nail width and I'm worried they may split the wood.

Is this likely? The holes where they will be driven aren't that close to the edge.... but I'm still concerned about the thickness of the nail.

Advice would be appreciated.

those square sides are supposed to cut through the wood. You can drill pilot holes for the nails, that usually helps, but yours are very wedge-shaped.

Avoid putting them near any edges.

edit:
in fact, the old nails will have left holes you can re-use.

Yes, I'll be using the existing holes.

So as the existing holes aren't that close to the "plank" edges it should be ok?
