Window film static cling

Anyone has experience of the cheap-ish static-cling window film? I need to have some up for 6-9 months. Many amazon reviewers complain of them becoming unstuck easily. How serious is this a problem? I don't want to waste my time and effort playing silly games with them.

They work well if fitted properly and last a long time.

There wouldn't be any fitting. It's stuck on the glass using soapy water and then the water squeegeed out.

That is the fitting! It is fitted to the glass

Do you mean the secondary glazing film, or the film which is put on glass to make it obscure?

I've had the obscure type fitted to a couple of windows for a few years, very easy to fit and no problems at all.

It's a long time since I used the secondary type, intended to improve on the heat loss. That was much more tricky to use, and not very robust - especially not good with kids around.
