Hi all
Firstly, apologies - my pictures seem to be uploading sideways, not entirely sure why...
Secondly - I'm probably not gonna articulate this as well as I should, but I'll try.
I have a back bedroom window which is essentially two separate windows on top of each other (I imagine there's a more technical term for this). In the past, sporadically, the bottom window has been drip leaking from the top of it during, or after, driving rain.
I've had a friend in the industry, and also a company, look at it - both baffled, never seen it happen before.
The drainage - there's drainage holes in the bottom of the top frame. Drainage holes in the top of the bottom frame, then usual drainage holes at the very bottom of the bottom frame, with one external drainage hole at the very bottom of the bottom frame. The drainage holes at the very bottom seem to have permanent water sat in them, though that isn't leaking inside down there.
The friend who's in the industry said all he can think of is that the drainage holes in the top of the bottom frame shouldn't be there, so he siliconed over them, in picture three (I can obviously take a stanley knife to that if/when needed). Since he did that - no leaks, however, there does seem to be water sitting along the top of that bottom frame. I've removed that water build up but I suspect if it was left, it'll continue to build up - and my guess is that it's that build up of water that's eventually leading to the drip leak; given it's coming from that particular area. I assume it's gradually building up and overflowing (though it still shouldn't come through the seal at the top of the bottom window, surely?), rather than travelling anywhere.
The company who came said all they can suggest is to take the bottom window apart to look for a manufacturers defect, but no guarantee they can solve it for me. Still in two minds whether to do this or not.
That's quite a convoluted explanation, but hopefully makes some sort of sense.
