I have recently had a compaq desktop EN donated to my classroom. I attempted to install a game from cd onto the computer but it tells me that no disk inserted. Now I have another problem. I turn on the computer and all I get now is the Compaq screen then blank. Windows is not booting now. Can anyone help?

It could be a number of things. Can you supply more details of the machine and O/S.

Check the BIOS to ensure the drive is enabled. Check that the data cable is connected correctly. The drive has possibly failed. Will it read/play an audio CD?

I do not know much about computers so bios is new to me. I am very ignerant with computer. The operating system is windows and I believe a 98 or 200 version. Don't know how to check it. I discovered that the disk was just too scratched up to read. Booted up once I removed the disk from the drive. It is slow but I believe it is because of the age. Anyway, thanks for your help.
