My first floor is carved up into bedrooms and bathroom. The partitioning is all done as stud walls.

I am planning a new layout which will move bedrooms around, create new ones and shift the bathroom to a new location. I may need to put some new windows in on a side which overlooks the neighbours garden. I am detached but the side passage is around half a metre wide. I am sure they will say no, if asked…

Is permission mandatory for this?

Are there any type of windows that can be put in without the need for planning permission?

Thanks in advance.

I’d be grateful for any advice on this please. Thanks

Obscure glazing to level 3 - permitted development

not sure about height above floor or size

and not sure if that’s replacing existing or adding new

so not much help really!

PD if obscure and any opener more than 1.7m above the floor.

Building regs may apply for means of escape and fire spread at the boundary - in addition to the forming of the opening and support above. This is not covered by FENSA or suchlike.
