Winmail.dat as attachment

Windows XP Pro., microsoft exchange server.
About 3 weeks ago when tryingh to send Adobe attachments to hotmail accounts, I get the attchment as a 'winmail.dat.

I have googled & checked all the mail format tabs etc.
I still cant resolve it, any ideas.

It seems to have started after I installed Adobe 8, I have not yet tried uninstalling that, I have done system restore, but it looks like adobe removes the previous version before installing the new as on a restore there are no pdf showing as 'pdf's'

Does the file get recognised once saved on the receiving PC?

Tried that.
I have just unistalled Adobe 8 & installed 7, waiting for the email to myhotmail acc now, fingers x, but dont expect it to work.

what we are trying to get at is the hotmail client web based application will not recognise this file it needs saving onto a PC that has outlook installed first

I am sending from outlook to hotmail on the same pc, it used to work.

I can send from other pc in the office to my pc (hotmail acc) no probs, so it is something on my pc

I have installed Adobe 7, now the emails I have sent are not arriving to my hotmail account.
