Hi just a quick question on wire sizing. wire size like 2.5 i understand is measured on the cross section of the wire . but 16mm and 25mm what does this measurment relate to?

o.k. but a piece of 25mm is,nt 25mm across so how can this be?

as i said, cross sectional area, that is to say the area of its cross section, or if you were to "cut off a slice" and measured its surface area the reulting figure would be that of the cable size
