Hi i'm new, enthusiastic but a little dense at times and female :D My doorbell got stuck yesterday. I killed the power then disconnected the bell. I then removed the bell push checked the wires cleaned it up and put it back. When I came to wire the bell back up I noticed there were three wires. There are two obvious connectors in the bell but I have no idea where the third wire should go (yes paying attention when I disconnected it would have been helpful) Also all the wires are identical. ie, just black sheathing and very fine. I have tried several combinations but each time blow the fuse...any suggestions would be gratefully received.

At the bell you probably have a pair or wires from the transformer and another pair from the bell push.

One of the pair from the transformer goes to one terminal of the bell. One of the pair from the bell push goes to the other terminal of the bell.

The two remaining wires, one from each pair must be joined together but NOT connected to anything in the bell. Best to use a terminal block for this joint but tightly twisted wires and insulated with tape will work.
