No more a-hijacking will I go.
So...
Options for a wireless control for an Intergas Exclusive 36?
Currently got all 3 of those with a nigh-on 20 year old WB boiler and WB badged Honeywell Digistat. Are we really going backwards?
I havent got wires, but I could put them in if I have to. I guess theyd be more reliable than a wireless, and at least I wouldnt be able to see the damn things or permanently tie up a power socket. But Id still not get #2
Does anybody make one that fits a standard back-box, or does "mains powered" always mean it uses a plug in power supply, not a direct 230v connection?
So if wired it is to be, what wires? For best future-proofing flexibility, 5-core mains flex or Cat5/5e/6?
Both?
And where wires? We used to have the current Digistat fixed to the wall in the hall, until the rad there broke, then we plonked it on the sideboard in the living room.
Wheres generally regarded as the best place in the house? The hall rad is going to get replaced so that will again be a heated space.

- Properly wireless, i.e. battery powered, not a wireless one with a big thick wire meandering over to the nearest socket. Or dangling down the wall if its mounted there.
- Preferably one which will talk directly to the boiler, not via a receiver bolted to the wall next to the boiler and more chuffin wires.
- And preferably one I can work by poking at it, not by having to install an app on my phone or tablet.

If you've got wires in place, or are prepared to install them, then yes go for the wired version. It'll save any potential communication issues.
