Got an Advent 5401 laptop recently and bought a Belkin wireles router to go with it (have cable modem for my old PC).

When I run the Belkin CD, my PC tells me that the wireless capability is switched off. It says turn by "using a switch, which is usually found on front or side of the computer, or a function key combination."

There's no switch - anyone know what the function key combination might be?

Thanks!

And for future ref, look at the keyboard for the [Fn] key - it may be a diff colour or the text has a box, underline etc. Now look at all other keys for symbols rendered in the same way. There are key combos for stuff like:

SLeep
Hibernate
Eject CD
Brightness
Volume
Bluetooth
Wireless

etc

Also, some laptops switch the wireless on and off with software. My IBM laptop drivers switch wireless off when I right-click Disable the network adapter.. I think this approach sensible for the most part, as on otehr systems its possible to have a wireless adapter that is Enabled in windows, but power to the card is literally switched off, so it doesnt work -> such a logica disconnect is bad design

There is a full list of function key combinations, plus a lot of other useful information on the Advent 5401 laptop on the following link.

That site also has information on a number of other makes of computers.

It also has a very useful links list which covers a wide range of topics,

It also has a list of links to various free, named software programmes, which are listed by type, and which look very useful,

There is an unofficial Advent support forum on the following link, and there is a link at the top of the forum page and via this other link you can access and download Advent drivers.
