Having undone the wires from the board that powers the motorised valves and the CH pump ( conventional system, not a combi), I seem to have put them back wrong as the boiler 13amp spur fuse blows when I switch it on

I have not disturbed the right hand side of board so that must be okay.

Photo shows what's not working con the left side. Black sheathed wires are the motorised valves, white is the pump

Can anyone advise?

Thx

Confirm browns in 7 and 8 - you'll have to trace the wires if you didn't take a photo before starting. Fuse should be rated at 3 Amps not 13.

Why did you remove the wires?

Looks like you have a live or netral connected to earth in position 6 on the RH side of the strip whether you disturbed that side or not it looks incorrect.

I spotted that too, but wondered if they disturbed it as they said they hadn't

typical wiring centre some of the colours will not be what they should be .
It will need someone in front of it to actually test what wires are perm live / switch live / neutrals etc
No point guessing from a photo

Well, unless you can put them back as they were and why did you change them i doubt anybody online can help you

Could you let us know what the cables on the right connect to?
does the bottom flex go to the tank thermostat, and the red, yellow and blue triple and earth above it go to a mechanical room thermostat?
Would it be possible to show us a picture of the wiring behind the room thermostat and the programmer (and possibly the boiler, if that is safe to do so)

A logical wiring scheme could have the other RYB triple and earth going to the boiler and the red and black twin and earth going to the programmer.

But as earlier...
Why did you remove the wires?

...a first step may be to wire the pump flex into a 13A plug (with 3A fuse), and see if it operates correctly by itself.

I would test the green/yellow wires. Over the years, I have found Plumbers have used green/yellow for other than earth. Not permitted, but that does not seem to stop them.
