However how do I wire it to the new switch with just...
You can't - that is not a 2-gang 2-way switch, it is a 3-gang 1-way.

  1. Do you actually want remote controlled switches? What was it about this one that made you want it?
  2. Given the broken English on the label my instinct is to be so mistrustful of the quality that I would assume the CE mark is a fake and that at the slightest opportunity the switch would either electrocute me or burn my house down. Was it cheap on eBay?

Yup, its a one-way switch so no good for your purposes...

Also, even if you DO manage to get a two-way version you should note that those fancy switches expect the supply (the L terminal) to be common for the whole switch.
With your upstairs/downstairs circuit the live will come from the upstairs circuit and the other circuit will be from the downstairs lighting circuit.
So, no good for your purposes on two counts (three if you could BAS's Doomsday warning)

Next customer please...:giggle:

Not too bothered about the upstairs switch not working as it's all on remotes anyway... Can I still use it?
You will only be able to use it for the one light downstairs.

When you are at the foot of the stairs and about to go to the dark upstairs, how will you turn that upstairs light on? (the necessary remote will be upstairs, don't forget)

And you'll have a switch with three buttons and only one will work. How will you explain that to every visitor?.

PS. Do take photos of any wiring BEFORE you disconnect anything.

I have multiple remotes :-) and multiple of these switches so each comes with its own remote.

My mistake for not being clear. The existing switch has 2 switches. One for the living room light, one for the upstairs light. There is also a switch upstairs which switches the same upstairs light.

So I was thinking of just using the 3 switch panel downstairs, one for the living room and one for the upstairs light. Hope that makes sense. I already took photos as well..

2. Was on amazon with good reviews.
Meaningless. This is how those 'reviews' get there:

1. Supplier of product creates listing on Amazon (note that Amazon are not the seller)
2. Supplier of product sets up discount code for their product on Amazon which provides 99% off.
3. Supplier of product gives code to friends/relatives/employees/gullible persons with blog or similar so they can 'buy' the product for virtually nothing
4. Persons write review stating it is wonderful etc.
5. Optional - supplier of product gives persons some pittance of a payment for the review once it is published.

The existing switch already has a link between the two sides, so either your lighting is all on a single circuit, or it's a borrowed neutral situation already.

The new switch can probably be used, however some wiring changes will be required at the upstairs switch as well. Ideally the upstairs one should be removed completely as it cannot be used successfully with the new remote one.

Post a picture of the wiring of the upstairs switch.

I am just asking for help as I am new to this. That wasn't the exact amazon page, hence the different reviews. I'll ignore unhelpful comments.

but to answer ban-all-sheds who can apparently speak for all possible consequences and logical outcomes.

1. "Will the remote controls always be where people are when they want to work the lights?" , it's me, so no-one else to worry about. So therefore yes.
2. "OOI, why did you buy a 3-gang to replace a 2-gang?" a 3 gang was cheaper than a 2 gang. I'm moving soon so this is just temporary so irrelevant if there is one extra circle. I will be the only one using it. In my new place there are 3 gang lights so therefore i am saving money.
3. As rocker switch has state 1 and state 2, rather than state 1 and then off , a touchpad just has state 1 and off. I hadn't read up on 2 way vs 1 way and thought that lights were all 1 way. I am learning so that's good.

flameport - good points and I was unaware of that, thanks for letting me know.

Upstairs switch here.It states 2 way on the label.

IMO it is very difficult for people here to realise that when you say 'the "switch" is this one:', and give a link to a page on Amazon showing the sort of switch you have, that you have not given a link to the actual switch you have.

I'll ignore unhelpful comments.
If you knew just how dangerous and falsely-certified some of the electrical items sold from China through Amazon really are, you'd not regard concern about the safety of what you bought as unhelpful.

Fair enough. You're obviously far better organised than most people - I doubt that many people would be able to guarantee that they would always take the remote upstairs in case they needed it.

OK.

Seems odd to bother changing the existing switch, then, especially as you'll soon have to change it back. Best to not follow the suggestion to remove the upstairs switch unless you want to really p**s off your buyers.

Are they all 1-way switched?

Upstairs switch here.It states 2 way on the label.
The downstairs one will also be a 2-way.

Just look at this inane discussion.

"IMO it is very difficult for people here to realise that when you say 'the "switch" is this one:', and give a link to a page on Amazon showing the sort of switch you have, that you have not given a link to the actual switch you have."

Its the same switch just a different brand, ie hence different reviews adn same switch.

"Seems odd to bother changing the existing switch, then, especially as you'll soon have to change it back. Best to not follow the suggestion to remove the upstairs switch unless you want to really p**s off your buyers."

I have a multitude of reasons for my decisions that I do not want to explain in detail here as it will just waste time.... well done.

"Are they all 1-way switched?"

Yes I checked

"The downstairs one will also be a 2-way."

We have ascertained that.

"Is this you?"

That wasn't really helpful wasn't it. If you want to foster a good online forum, you need to be civil.

"I'll ignore unhelpful comments."

I was referring to the above moronic comment, not the comment about safety and so on. Your mental capacity has clearly been reached. Goodbye.
