I am trying to build a brooder for newly hatched birds, i have seen a set up using a 60w red coloured bulb and a dimmer to allow me to adjust the voltage and thus the heat emmited by the bulb. i am using 2 core cable and have a dimmer switch which has 3 terminals. L1,L2 and an arrow going through squiggle ( for want of a better word) can anyone advise me how to proceed to wire the dimmer .
thanks in advance.

Live brown to L1 ,

arrow/squiggle is live out brown to lampholder.

Blue direct to lampholder

If metal, dimmer will need to be earthed
