Dimmer Wiring

Different makers sign their switches up in diffreent ways. I know, its a pain.

Here's how to convert

Old switch COM = New Switch L1
Old switch L1 = New Switch L2
Old switch L2 = New Switch L3

See, electrics stuff isn't as simple as it looks!

Apart from the lettering, they're exactly the same.

Yes that's done it, I just can't get the f ing cover plate on to the Crabtree flush fitting switch (they didn't have the normal screw in cover switches). Going to have to take out the backbox and pad it out until I can manage to clip f er on.

My hats off to you leccys out there, this has been unbelievable, what should have been a 10 minute job has been 2 days (on and off). And still the new switch isn't square as the backbox is slightly too small to accommodate the new switch, so the fitting you screw the cover-plate to is slightly bent. I can't take the backbox out as It's plastered in, unless of course if I smash of all the plaster around the box and then have to renew it after, which ain't gonna happen!

So again a big thank you to everyone.
