Having wired up a 45a cooker switch with 6MM cable back to the consumer unit, can I connect both the cooker and the hob to the switch? Can I drop the 6mm cable out of the switch to a junction box to which I connect the appliances. If so, what size of junction box is required, 45 amp??

Your helpful advice would be appreciated.

What are the ratings of each appliance? in KW?
You cannot take both off a 45amp switch, you need a separate one for each appliance .You wouldn't get the cables in anyway.6mm cable will carry approx 36 amps in total. so a 4kw oven for instance would draw 4000 Divided by the voltage(235) =17 amps

I would put them both on 20amp DP switches,
