Wiring Problem - Ceiling Light

Trying to fit a ceiling light. There are three wires from the ceiling 2 red and one black. Tried wiring them to the light fitting in varoius combinations. |The light either stays on (even if you swith the wall light switch on or off) or trips the circuit. Any advice

ps - the wall switch has two switches one for the ceiling lights and one for wall lights in the same room. The wall lights work ok

If you have removed the ceiling rose then you need to look here.

Sounds like you have wired you lamp into the permanent live rather than the switched live - if it tripping the MCB then you may also have wire the netural and or earth to the wrong terminal as well
