am going to run the cable on the wall not in the ground i am going to dig the groung for concreating bu t dont wantto run cable in the ground,what size wire do i run from the CU whats rcd where do i fit that can i not run a ring in the shed its a brick shed not wood.i hav a socket near the swith for the lights can i run a spur from the socket to the switch into a junction box the to the tubes.

Further, if the cable is to run along the garden to the shed, it can only above ground IF and only IF..

It is clipped to a solid wall, not a fence or simple lowrise garden wall. OR it is strung using Catenary wire at a hieght of not less than 2700mm from the groun for walkways, or 4500mm for areas accessible to vehicles. If you cannot meet these conditions then the cable MUIST be buried in the ground, no less than 450mm deep in a suitable DUCT that has warning tape placed on it prior to burying.

1. This supply MAY be spurred of an existying circuit in the dwelling (not recommended!)

2. The supply to the shed does not need RCD protection at the dwelling end, only for equipment in the outbuilding (at the out building cu) - infact an RCD at origin and end of the supply and the new c/u end will cause bad discrimination if both are 30mA!
