Hya, I'm new to this forum but I wondered if anyone can help me? I have just bought new wall lights and I find that It's the new wiring system and my house has the old system. What I wanted to know was, the piece of wire with no covering on at all, where does that get wired to? I'm clear about the other wiring but not the plain bit.

EARTH! You may find your light fitting has an earth terminal, but if its double insulated and plastic, it wont. If it has a temrinal, use it.

If not, you need a piece of terminal block (wee plastic thing with a brass terminal inside and two screws), and fasten the earth wire to that. You should also sleeve the earth wire with a bit of green and yellow sheath.

Hya steve, thanks for a swift reply. Went to a builders yard and asked an electrician. Problem solved, again thanks. :D
