hi there.

My plasterer is going to sand and cement our walls and has asked me to hack off all the plaster to the brick.

On one of the walls there was cement rather than plaster so I've been asked to take all that off too.

I've taken it off above the window and it's exposed a wooden block with a wire mesh in the cement that was over it.

Am I OK to have removed this?

The window suddenly seems very exposed and doesn't have much holding it in place?!

Generally a few screws or similar on each side.

You may want to get some expanding foam and fill the gaps between the window and the bricks before the plasterer returns.

I had the same issue with a timber lintel, a bit of foam in the gaps and some plasterboard screwed into the wood and it was fine

Thanks John. It looks very precarious without any of that!
