Hi, I've just moved into an old victorian flat and want to fit a small 3.5k wood burner.
It has a victorian style open fire place with a recently swept chimney that draws well.
All the other flats have open fire places and use coal so all the chimneys seem sound and used.
I was intending to fit the flu out of the burner and up through the existing chimney
I have variouse flu pipes angles and can clearly go out the back of the burner, angle through the existing victorian hole with about 5mm either side, then angle again before going up straight with the 4ft flu pipe.
Does this sound about right or am I thinking the wrong way about this?
I see a few people remove the old victorian surround so the wood burner sits back into the fire place.
I dont want to destroy this surround as its a lovely feature and the wood burner is so small it just sits infront of it nicely with quite a bit of space behind it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've been reading alot of the forums but havent come across anyone just putting a small burner onto, infront of, and up through an existing old victorian fire place, or is it really much more complicated than that? thanks..

Must woodburners have a entry at the rear for the flue pipe, this will likely help you achieve what your require, you will need to install a register plate and would be a good idea to have a sweep access in the pipe,
