I am fitting a flu liner in the chimney to connect to a multi fuel wood stove that previously just had a pipe going up the chimney there is already in place a hardie backer board 8mm thick as a closure plate my question is this adequate or do I need to fit a thicker one to get it past by building control thank you in advance for any replies

I have informed building control but when I removed the wood burner I see the closure plate was cracked so I will be replacing it with a new one it seems 12mm is the normal preferred size
