Which filler would folk here recommend for repairing small dent / cracks to furniture prior to painting?

There are so many to choose from.. From tubs of cheap filler in the discount scores, the Ronseal product for different wood types. In tubes and cartoons and some people seem to use 2 part fillers, really made for car body repair.

Any ideas please?

Thank you!

Bruises or dents are best taken out by applying a damp, doubled over tea towel to the damaged area and then applying a hot iron. The steam can help to swell the fibres and pop the bruise out. May take several applications. It may not be 100% successful, but it does work.

Remaining flaws where filler is required are better dealt with using a 2-pack wood filler or 2-pack flexible body filler (providing the timber is to be painted). 1-part fillers pretty much always sink over time to leave a hollow - 2-pack rarely behaves like that. Spend a couple of quid to get yourself some Euro stopping knives from Toolstation or elsewhere and sand the sharp corners into a nice round shape. These knives are very flexible and make the task of applying filler easier. Make sure to keep them clean by wiping off repeatedly as you use them
